Currencies

Currencies are part of the market context applied to a project or price list. Darwin tracks which currency applies to each priced component, enabling multi-currency projects and exchange-rate-aware comparisons.

  • Multi-market pricing — work with suppliers and price lists in different currencies
  • Exchange-rate awareness — refresh exchange rates to keep estimates current
  • Traceable price context — preserve the currency basis when comparing estimates across time or region

Each material, labor rate, and expense in a price list is denominated in a specific currency. A project can reference price lists in different currencies, and Darwin tracks the exchange rates between them.

The Refresh Exchange Rates action automatically fetches updated rates and recalculates all currency-dependent items. This is especially useful for international suppliers or cross-border workflows.

  • Keep project currency explicit
  • Review exchange-rate assumptions when pricing changes materially
  • Refresh exchange rates before finalizing a proposal or requesting approval
  • Use the same currency convention across related price lists for consistency
